Stalybridge South’s Conservative councillors recently supported the work of young carers. Cllrs. Basil Beeley, David Buckley and Doreen Dickinson awarded the Friends of Young Carers a £500 grant from their council ward monies.

The Friends of Young Carers is one of Tameside’s newest charities, and was set up to support the borough’s 200 young carers, who are aged from seven to 18-years-old. As part of that support, the charity raises money to help provide funding for the carers to access sport, recreational and leisure activities in order to improve their lifestyle and social welfare. The Conservatives’ donation will fund a day trip to Alton Towers for 50 of the youngsters.
